Introduction

Placid Works was founded in 2025 to embody the purpose and values essential for successful adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in business.

After more than 25 years in IT, leading software and cloud projects, Chris Hines recognized the need for a new kind of partner—one equipped for this era of innovation. Unlike previous technological shifts, the adoption of AI is a uniquely human experience. It demands new approaches and skills to ensure true success.

The name Placid Works is inspired by the poem Desiderata by Max Ehrmann. “Desiderata,” meaning “things desired” in Latin, opens with the line: “Go placidly amid the noise and the haste.” Written in 1927, this poem has resonated across generations, especially during times of transformation. It became a moral compass for many during the social changes of the 1960s and 70s, often displayed in homes, schools, and offices.

AI is profoundly shaping technology and society, with even greater changes likely ahead. In these times, guiding principles are more important than ever. Placid Works stands for a brand that encourages excitement about the future while remaining mindful of the “noise and haste.” We are passionate about technology and its potential to create value, but we favor a measured, incremental approach—focused on our customers and building lasting partnerships.

“Placid” means not easily upset or excited—a quality we believe is vital for navigating the opportunities and challenges of AI adoption.
